The Decision
As part of an accelerated career development program for an US multinational, I took on HR roles outside my comfort zone to learn as much as possible.
I’ve led international teams and went on multiple expat assignments abroad. I progressed my career until I achieved my ultimate goal as a global Director of Talent Development … and then I thought, ‘now what?‘.
I liked my job but was no longer challenged. I felt restless in my body. Is this it? Do I want to do this until my retirement?
If not, what else? I knew I had to listen to my heart and find out what I truly wanted deep inside. That was not easy. I started working on more self-awareness.
It became clear that I wanted to start my own business in Career Coaching, which fits perfectly with my 20 years of expertise in HR Talent & Leadership Development.
However, I was afraid to give up my secure, well-paid job.
Several limiting thoughts held me back. I received coaching to clear the path to my dream.
That feeling of knowing what you truly want and finding your purpose, is something I wish for you too!

Facts about me
- Born in 1980 and raised in The Netherlands, I moved 18 times. I live with my husband Remko and our 3 cats in Heemstede (near Haarlem).
- With a mother from the UK and a father with Indonesian roots, it was no surprise that I wanted to work for international companies and interact with people from other cultures.
- I love to host dinner parties and cook for friends and families. (I always cook way too much, because I am afraid that I don’t have enough food….)
- Out of my comfort zone, I took an expat assignment to Kazakhstan to work in an unfamiliar culture, with a language I didn't speak, with some direct reports who did not speak English... I certainly had some sleepless nights, but I wouldn't want to have missed it!
- We have been a host family to 2 Ukrainian refugees for a while during the war. It was a great experience getting to know their culture.
- Running in the forest gives me energy! I enjoy playing golf in my free time although it sometimes drives me crazy when my swing is having an off day (yes…I am competitive!).
